Jesse Ventura (born James George Janos; July 15, 1951) is a conspiracy theorist and a generally moronic windbag. Although Janos claims he is either politically independent or a member of smaller political parties, he is a complete leftist who believes every leftist public policy like removing all borders and entry points in the United States, legalization of all drugs, and any environmental policy that would make Greta Thunberg proud.
Janos joined the Navy during the Vietnam war serving from December 1, 1969 to September 10, 1975. He served in the capacity of a SEAL, specialized in what is referred to as Basic Underwater Demolition. However, as much as Janos talks about his SEAL credentials during Vietnam, it was discovered that Janos never participated in combat. In his later career as a professional wrestler, he said he had to retire because of blood clots in his lungs caused by Agent Orange. This appears to be a falsehood, but that is not especially surprising considering that Janos is really playing a character named "Jesse Ventura."
Janos returned to his native Minneapolis, a city known for many of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time. Janos was not one of the these. Janos took on the persona of a California beach bum and picked the name "Ventura." He tried to adapt some of the personality traits of Superstar Billy Graham, but Janos didn't have the discipline to get the nice tan or washboard abs. Janos made a name for himself by being able to spew completely made up stories and give it enough conviction that people will believe they are actual facts. When Janos wrestled, a typical 20 minute match involved Janos stalling outside of the ring at least 1/2 to 3/4 of the time.
Janos moved to the World Wrestling Federation where he wrestled Hulk Hogan about 3 times and then ended his career due to the aforementioned blood clots. Janos would return several other times, but decided to bail out of actual wrestling and move to a job that was much more in line with his talent: spewing bullcrap. Janos became a commentator for the rest of his wrestling career.
Janos frequently made reference to how great he is and made verbal threats against the people who actually could and did wrestle. Most wrestling experts state that the job of a "color commentator" is to add to the story of what is occurring in the ring and to put focus on the wrestlers in order to get fans interested in the product and to but tickets when the show would come to the fan's hometown. Janos never seemed to grasp this as he always told the general public that he would be world champion if he wasn't announcing. Most of the play-by-play analysts who worked with Ventura showed visible and verbal agitation when having to deal with Janos since Janos wanted to be the star of the show. Many announcers simply quit paying attention to Ventura and provided commentary as if Janos was not present.
After Janos was fired from the WWF, he joined WCW as an announcer. During this time he also ran for and was elected to become the mayor of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. Janos' career didn't last long as Hulk Hogan was preparing to enter WCW as an actual wrestler and Janos kept disparaging Hogan on television calling him a B-movie actor who was scared to face him in the ring. WCW officials caught Ventura sleeping in the hallways when he was supposed to be working. This led to his dismissal, where he went back to just being the mayor of the small suburb.
This was, other than a few sporadic appearances, then end of Janos' wrestling career.
Janos has played characters in major Hollywood films such as Predator, The Running Man, Demolition Man and others. However, contrary to what he would have you believe, he played only minor characters and never received top billing. It makes Janos' criticism for Hogan seem really petty. Janos claimed that he was in major Hollywood films and Hogan was not. Actually, Hogan was in several major movies starting with Rocky III. Hogan had starred as a lead actor with top billing in three films in direct opposition to Janos' zero films.
Three years after serving as mayor of Brooklyn Park, Janos threw his hat into the ring for the governor, running on the Reform Party ticket. Janos took advantage of the anti-government sentiment at the time, but Janos had few defined policies. Janos eventually won by a very thin margin. Janos accomplished little partially due to the fact that neither party wanted any part of his weird agenda.
Janos' most visible form of protest during his governorship was walking out in the middle of the Paul Wellstone memorial, which degraded from a memorial to a political rally.
Janos quickly decided not to run again after even he realized how worthless his time in office had been.
Although Janos claims to hate both the Republican and Democrat parties, there is yet to be a policy from the Democrat party platform that can be found that Janos really disagrees with.
Janos has found his true calling as a conspiracy theorist who hosted the appropriately named show, "Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura." Janos catchphrase during this time would be, "I'm just asking questions." However, the questions he would ask were simply leading questions meant to persuade viewers to believe that whatever bullcrap theory Janos was throwing was entirely true. Regarding 9/11, Janos would frequently refer to government reports that WTC 7 fell a freefall speeds. However, most of the "government reports" were never revealed but the inference was that they were authentic due to Janos holding a piece of paper in his hand. The only thing related to 9/11 proven to fall at freefall speeds is Janos' never ending bull.
Janos throws his full weight (which has been rapidly expanding during Janos' advancing age) around the widely disputed film, Loose Change. Loose Change was made by a couple of high school kids who used, almost exclusively, initial reports of the events of 9/11 while information was conflicting between various sources. Apparently, these high school kids, who lacked expertise on any of the subjects on which they were speculating, were saying things that reinforced Janos' dubious beliefs.
It has been scientifically established that large exposure to Janos will result in severe IQ degradation.
Janos' fans will point out how he "owns" everyone he debates with. The reason for this inaccurate belief is due to Janos simply making up most facts on the spot. He depends on his fans not actually looking up the facts for themselves to know how wrong he actually is. Janos has the ability to convince others, including any opponent he debates, that he is right because he is so arrogant and sure of himself when he says anything.
The second way Janos wins arguments is that he imaginary friends who are party insiders that gave him the scoop. For instance, Janos was debating Gavin McInnes. Janos told Gavin, "one of my friends who is high up in the Republican party says they have to get rid of the anti-abortion stance if they want to win elections." While it is difficult to believe that Janos has any friends, he certainly doesn't have a friend who is a Republican insider and he certainly wasn't told that by anyone. It is simply a way for Janos to win the argument and most people don't push back on Janos demanding facts instead of imaginary friends.
Janos has been known to make up his own facts whenever he tries to make points that reaffirm he beliefs. For instance, Janos supports tearing down all Confederate statues. His justification is that they committed treason against the United States and should not be glorified. However, Janos knowledge is faulty, as per usual. This is not necessarily a Janos problem, as Snopes has the same problem with the facts regarding the Civil War era soldiers. President Andrew Johnson pardoned all soldiers who served in the Confederacy, so regardless of any "treason" committed, they received a full pardon. Additionally, Confederate veterans received the same veteran benefits of the soldiers that served for the United States.
Janos is opposed to the electoral college and says we need to adopt the popular vote. Janos further makes the claim the electoral college was only necessary because election results traveled on a horse and buggy which required this method of proxy voting. Janos, obviously not a student of history, is completely ignorant of the "State's Rights" debate during the country's founding. The founders wanted large population centers from controlling elections. But, Janos is able to say things in such a convincing way that people will believe him; regardless of the fact that Janos just makes stuff up on the spot that reaffirms his worthless opinions.
Janos made the claim that he is an atheist. God did comment on this by saying that it's Janos' prerogative to do so and that God didn't believe in James George Janos either.
Janos made the statement in Playboy magazine that he believed organized religion is a crutch used by weak-minded people who need strength in numbers. Janos who is, obviously, a strong-minded person would rather spend his time discussing secret government conspiracies and UFO alien abductions.
Janos lectures everyone saying we should have no sports teams named "Braves", "Indians" or "Chiefs" because that is offensive to Native Americans. Many Native Americans don't have a problems with this because sports teams are not named after losers. For example, no one would name their team the Jesse Venturas. However, Janos claims he spoke to Native Americans and they don't like it. Therefore, all of these names should be removed. Janos then demands the owners make a public apology for their racism.
Janos must have forgot that video tape was a real thing back when he was doing wrestling commentary. Janos frequently called the Mexican wrestler Tito Santana by the name "Chico." Janos also said things like, "Chico should go back to selling tacos in Tijuana."
Janos would also demean wrestlers like Koko B. Ware by saying, "the B stands for Buckwheat." If Janos was ever asked about this, Janos would claim he was simply playing the "bad guy" character on television and that character was making those claims. However, the staff here at Drogan's Encyclopedia asked many people of ethnic diversity and they were and are still offended by Janos' comments and Janos should make a public apology, condemning the racist statements he has made in the past.
Janos is quick to blame the government for everything from starting the Vietnam war to causing 9/11 to happen. Theoretically, this would sew mistrust for everything the federal government does. However, that is not the case, and it's actually the opposite. Janos hasn't seen a big government program he doesn't love. For instance, he criticized Rush Limbaugh for going to a hospital in Hawaii and how Limbaugh talked about how great the care was. Janos claimed that all hospital in Hawaii are government run, so Limbaugh was hypocritical for praising them. Janos, whose information is faulty as per normal, didn't realize that Rush visited a private hospital which was not government run.
Janos also loves it anytime the government controls anything and everything environmental. Basically, if it is something big government, other than military, Janos is behind it.
Janos got his butt kicked by Navy SEAL Chris Kyle. Tough guy Janos sued Chris Kyle posthumously for defamation. Janos won but was overturned because Janos' lawyer lied saying the Kyle's estates insurance would pay the lawsuit, not the estate itself. The case was settled out of court later on, but it made Janos look like a big wussy.
Janos believes in the conspiracy theory that people tried to overthrow the US Capitol building on January 6, 2021. Janos calls this Trump's coup d'état. It should be noted that the only government incompetent enough to be overthrown by people without weapons would be a government run by Janos.
Despite Janos criticizing other politicians and thier families, he says he doesn't want to run for office again because people were too mean to him and his family.
Janos could sing as well as he could wrestle or govern.
